Imagine yourself walking the streets of Pretoria or Cape Town, or along the beach, wind in your hair, a happy partner holding your hand. You browse the restaurants, take a stroll and sip a glass of wine before heading home. It’s not quite the same experience if you’re on your lonesome is it?
If you’re looking for dates in South Africa, or potentially something more, we anticipate that South African Cupid might be the online dating website for you. With video options, as well as advanced searching tools, and a wide array of South African singles to choose from, there’s plenty of choice, as well as opportunities for romance to blossom.
Signing up to this site is simple, although you are required to include a fair few details about yourself. None of them are intrusive, but rather they help you to be matched with your ideal date. After signing up, you can upload photos, and we were pleased to see that most people had made a considerable effort to do so. You’ll also find members who have uploaded multiple images so you can get a good look at them. This is good for you too, as it means that you can really show off your good qualities and the sorts of things you enjoy doing.
After reading someone’s profile and checking out their photos, you may wish to send them a message. You can do this using a pre-written note of interest (such as “you’re very good looking. I would really like to know more about you. Hope to hear back!”) or by writing your own message. Since the first option is a bit lazy and doesn’t really show a keen interest, we think the latter option is preferable.
There are several ways of talking to members on South African Cupid, including video chat. This is great to see as it means you can talk as if you were face to face, and it’s much more intimate than text if you’d like conversations to become more private.
If you’re enjoying talking to someone, then you can add them to a list of friends so that you can contact them easily later on. In contrast, if you’re a little shy, then you can simply “show interest” by clicking a button, letting that member know you like them and that they can talk to you if the feeling is reciprocated.
You can find additional members by performing an advanced search, which offers an abundance of options to help you sort through all the members. You can be as specific as the hair and eye colour you find most pleasing, or keep things much more general. The site also makes recommendations as to members which it believes you will meld with, all of which is automated so needs no effort on your part.
Prices are competitive, with three packages to choose from. The free option is limited but allows you to get a feel for the site, whereas the Gold membership package lets you talk to free members. If you’re interested in video chat then you’ll need to upgrade to Platinum, which costs slightly more but is worth the difference in cost.
Overall we felt that there’s plenty to like about SouthAfricanCupid.com. There are plenty of members, an in depth search feature and webcam options should the notion strike you. Perhaps it won’t be long before you’re strolling along those beaches, hand in hand...
