Sexy Naija is a fresh-looking website with a decent membership covering a range of African nations, as well as other parts of the world such as the USA and UK. It has some useful features available to its members and free members can even send virtual gifts with messages. However, you do need to upgrade to communicate properly, and this is where we hit a snag: the site has several bugs which make upgrading difficult (or in our case, impossible), and the FAQ link took us to an error message.

These faults are really disappointing because Sexy Naija showed real promise. Signing up was relatively quick and easy, although you are required to include a photograph and verify your account by clicking a link in an email. Still, they didn’t ask for any too-personal information in general, or any credit card information. You can add several photos to your profile to help show off what you’ve got, and finding members is easy.

You can check out your “matches”, which the site recommends for you based on your profile answers. Alternatively, you can browse members (including a list of hottest members) or perform a search. Hottest members are decided based on ratings of photos, which are made by other members. If someone likes your photo. they could give it a high rating and you will become a hot member. Searching is simple and there are plenty of options to choose from, helping you to narrow down the results.

If you’re looking for a relationship with someone in or from Africa. then this site might be a good option as many of its members were currently living in Africa. However, communicating with them is an ordeal as the site seems to malfunction. We tried several browsers to try to upgrade our account, but to no avail. The upgrade and pricing page simply didn’t load. We tried to load the FAQ to get some answers, but this led to an error message. This really is a problem as it means you cannot join the site fully, so it becomes somewhat useless. 

Assuming you can get things working, what can you expect: well, we had thousands of matches, many of whom were attractive and had taken the time to add details to their profile pages. Since members can upload multiple photos, you can take a good look at someone from all angles. You can also include your Skype information in your profile, allowing you to chat with a webcam using Skype.

In-house communication features are a little less exciting, with basic chat rooms and messages, but that’s still not bad. You can send virtual gifts and build lists of your favorite members. We were also pleased to see options for meeting single people, couples and groups, all the while being able to choose your preferred genders.

If the site’s team can work out the problems, this would be a site worth visiting. But, as it is, it’s hard to recommend using SexyNaija to find an African date. In all likelihood these problems will be fixed so it might still be worth checking in at a later date, but if you have the same errors that we faced, then it’s probably time to try something else.
