Looking for a date in or from Kenya? Cupid’s got his arrows pointed firmly in place on Kenyan Cupid, although he’s willing to shoot across the globe to the US. Kenyan Cupid offers several well considered features to help you connect with Kenyan members around the world, with video options available to Platinum members.

The best elements of the site lie in its detailed profiles and search capabilities. You can be very specific about who you want to meet, right down to their religion or waistline, as well as all the usual stats such as age range and location. Most members have taken the time to upload pictures so you can get an idea of how they look, although not all members have pictures, and some photos are not very high quality. Still, if you’re not keen on showing your pictures to anyone and their uncle, there are security options available, allowing you to hide your pictures from the general public. Once you’ve spoken to a member and grown to trust them, you can then allow them access to your private hoard of pictures. 

There are also video chat options on KenyanCupid, so you can speak to someone and see how they behave. This is much more intimate and personal than text messages, although those are also an option. Members can choose from email-style or instant messenger chats if they’d prefer to stay out of the camera lens. Contacting members is very simple: find a member using the search feature, then just click on a button to choose how to contact them.

As we’ve mentioned, the search options go into a lot of detail so, if you find that you’re overloaded with choices, then you can be more specific about who you’d like to meet. The system also offers matches based on your preferences, should you wish to skip the manual search altogether. Thankfully there is a “save search” option so you don’t need to keep inputting the same information for every search you perform. 

Dating success may depend on what you want and where you live. We’d recommend signing up for free to give it a try. Prices are fair and membership numbers (in the US and Kenya) are strong enough that you should get some action. You can easily see who is online when you are, allowing you to get chatting quickly. When we logged on there were around 90 members chatting, which isn’t amazing, but this can change drastically depending on when you log in.

You can choose from Standard, Gold or Premium membership. Upgrading costs money but allows you to communicate with free members, get rid of site adverts, initiate chats and hide your profile. Meanwhile Platinum membership lets you access video options, get advanced matching, translate messages and more. Since the price difference between Gold and Platinum is relatively small, we’d recommend the full upgrade.

This site doesn’t have everything for everyone. It doesn't have much in the way of community features, for example. However, its features are practical and some of them won’t be found on other sites. Membership numbers aren’t great everywhere but should be high enough for most people. Profiles are detailed without becoming too tiresome, and the site allows you to upgrade decent photos (even if only some members take advantage of that.)
